What It Means to Coach AJSA Football
Coaching youth football is both a privilege and a responsibility. AJSA coaches help shape the experience our athletes remember long after the season ends. Wins matter, competition matters, and preparation matters — but at the youth level, the standard is bigger than the scoreboard.
Our coaches are expected to build confidence, teach accountability, develop character, and help players grow a lasting love for the game of football.
We are looking for enthusiastic, team-first coaches who understand that youth sports are about the kids. The best coaches teach fundamentals, create structure, lead with patience, and model the same attitude and effort they expect from their players. They communicate well, stay organized, support the direction of the program, and represent AJSA with integrity.
Coaching with AJSA is not simply about calling plays. It is about teaching young athletes how to prepare, compete, respond to adversity, respect teammates, listen to instruction, and carry themselves with pride. A great youth coach helps build better players, better teammates, and better people.

AJSA Coaching Identity
Lead. Develop. Protect. Represent.
These four standards guide how AJSA coaches serve athletes, families, teams, and the program.
Lead
Set the example.
Develop
Build skill, character, and confidence.
Protect
Prioritize safety and culture.
Represent
Honor AJSA, Andover, and the game.

The Standard in Action
AJSA coaches are expected to live out this standard with integrity, patience, perspective, and purpose. We are not looking for personal agendas, sideline drama, or win-at-all-costs coaching. We are looking for leaders who want to build young athletes the right way.
Our ideal coaches are positive role models who put athletes first, work well with other volunteers, support the direction of the program, and help create a culture that families are proud to be part of.
Through our partnership with USA Football and its League Excellence Program, AJSA is committed to providing a safer, smarter, and more consistent football experience. Coaches are expected to complete required training, follow program standards, teach approved techniques, and help athletes learn and compete with confidence.
Just as important, AJSA expects every coach to help protect the culture of the program. That means staying solution-focused, avoiding gossip and negativity, communicating respectfully, supporting organization decisions, and working in unity with other coaches, board members, volunteers, parents, and families.
This Is Bigger Than Football
At AJSA, coaching is about more than practices and game days. It is about helping young athletes learn confidence, accountability, resilience, teamwork, and respect — lessons they can carry with them long after the season ends.

Thank you for your interest in coaching with Andover Junior Sports Association Football.

AJSA coaches play one of the most important roles in our program. Coaches are expected to teach fundamentals, build confidence, model sportsmanship, protect player safety, and help create a positive experience for every athlete.

Coaching with AJSA is a privilege and a responsibility. We are looking for team-first leaders who understand that youth football is about the kids and who are willing to represent the program with integrity, patience, professionalism, and respect.

During registration, coaches will review and electronically acknowledge required AJSA coaching documents, including coach conduct expectations, safety protocols, liability waiver information, and football coaching requirements.

Coach Registration Requirement

Each person applying to coach must complete their own coach registration using their own email address and cell phone number.

Coach registration may not be completed by a spouse, significant other, parent, or another family member on behalf of the coach. Shared email addresses or another person’s cell phone number may not be used for coach registration.

Required acknowledgments, electronic signatures, background-related information, and coaching documents must be personally reviewed and completed by the individual applying to coach.

Registrations submitted by someone other than the coach, or submitted with another person’s contact information, will not be reviewed or followed up on by AJSA.

Coach registration is the first step in the coaching process. Submission of this registration does not guarantee placement on a staff. Coaching assignments are reviewed and approved by AJSA based on program needs, roster counts, experience, conduct expectations, and the best interests of the athletes and teams.

If you are ready to lead with purpose and serve the kids of our community, we would love to have you considered for the AJSA Football Coaching Team.
